MacGyver must descend an underground research facility where an unexplained explosion occured, before the acid reaches the ground water. Somewhat entertaining episode, but all too cheesily done. I can’t believe the series was continued after this.
The Golden Triangle
1985 – Series 1, Episode 2
MacGyver must retrieve a cannister of deadly poison from a plane crash somewhere in Southeast Asia. There he encounters and helps a village terrorised by a drug-dealer. Moralistic episode that fails — B.A.’s speech in Mexican Slayride is heaps better (and shorter). Give it a miss.
Why can the villagers all speak English?
Thief of Budapest
1985 – Series 1, Episode 3
MacGyver must escape from Budapest with a watch containing a list of names. The watch is stolen by a pickpocket and in order to get it back, he makes a deal to get her whole family to America. The escape is just scenes lifted from The Italian Job. Very poorly done.
The Gauntlet
1985 – Series 1, Episode 4
MacGyver is asked to bring back a photographer from an undisclosed South American country (which borders Mexico), where she is covering the injustices of the secret police. Anyway, they witness an arms deal and must flee to the border. Somewhat entertaining episode, but the writers really showed their lack with the “anything to declare” scene — c’mon, was that really the best you could do?
