A specialist lens for great distance magnification (10x or 100 areas as compared to standard 50mm lens), particularly for sports, public events, bird photography, surveillance, and astrophotography. Relatively wide lens aperture aids in bright screen focussing. Extreme magnification of backgrounds brings emphasis to perspective compression and background haze interference (aerial perspective). For use with tripod. Rack and pinion focussing.1
Distance engravings in yellow (metres) and blue (feet); non-removable rotating tripod collar; built-in extending lens hood.
To attach the lens to a camera, the rear part is removed by rotating a collar. This part is then screwed onto the camera and the rest of the lens attached with a three-claw bayonet mount. Special mounts were available for Canon, Konica, Minolta and Nikon cameras.
The same optical design as the Takumar 1:4.5/500 lens.
* The filters are attached to the rear (removable) tube.
